GPA Problem

I'm from korea, and i moved last year

now i'm goin to be a junior, and i'm worried a little bit..

becuz my GPA is really low..even tho i got 4.0 during my sophomore year w/ ALL A's

becuz of not enough credit during my freshmen year in korea

now my total GPA is 2.8 ish.. I'm taking hard classes so i can raise up my GPA
but it is going to be really hard

Now that i'm studyin for SATs. and ACTs
I need to acheive a very high score becuz of my GPA

my question is that I need to know what colleges or universities
that dont count 9th grade GPAs or grades

so if you guys can tell me which colleges or universitis dont count those
only through 10-12 that would be really helpful

THANK YOU

I wouldn't worry about specific colleges at this point. Instead, put your efforts into doing the best you possibly can junior year. An upwards trend is ALWAYS a positive in all admissions offices, even those that consider 9th grade. Junior year is the also the most important year - great grades junior year can do a lot to overcome a less than perfect GPA in freshman and sophomore years, especially if an admissions committee understands that you struggled your first year here while adapting to the U.S.. Also do your best to prep for the SATs next spring. And, if all else fails, there are plenty of schools that would be happy to consider a student with a GPA in the 2.8-3.0 range.

hkim - could you explain how your GPA is low due to "not enough credit" in Freshman year in Korea? Typically, the GPA formula = (sum (grade*#credits))/total # credits, so a small # of credits wouldn't bring your GPA down, although it might make you short of the recommended preparation. Is this something to do with how the UC GPA is calculated (I'm not familiar), or could you be wrong about your GPA?

Sounds more like a TOEFL problem.
