How does UofM recalculate our GPA when we turn the transcript in?

Only core academic classes (Math, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Economics and Foreign Languages) taken during Sophomore and Junior year are counted.

I am not sure if classes like Psychology and Computer Science count, but if I recall, they do not.

Classes like Art, Music and PE don't count.

There is no extra weight given to any class, whether it is a regular high school class or an AP class.

Once those "core academic classes" are identified, they assigned the following values to them:

A-, A and A+ = 4.0
B-, B and B+ = 3.0
C-, C and C+ = 2.0
D-, D and D+ = 1.0
F = 0.0

Do you think Michigan will tell you your recalculated GPA when they process you transcript?

No.

(ten char)

do they count frosh year??

I thought I made it clear that they only count core classes taken Sophomore and Junior year. That means that Michigan does not consider Freshman grades.

Woohoo, my recalculated gpa is 3.73

If computer science was counted, it would be 3.75

This is actually really good news for me considering that my UW overall gpa is 3.54:)
