If i'm a transfer student coming in as a sophomore, do i have to start a brand new gpa or does my freshman gpa and my old university carry over to cornell?

I've heard that your old GPA does not carry over...

I'd highly doubt it would carry over. I guess technically on job apps you might have to list your other institution attended and your GPA there but no one will really care about what you did for just a year there.

No, no one will care about your grades at your old school. Don't worry about it.

Grad schools will probably see them but otherwise they don't matter too much.

thanks guys but im not asking about importance for my future resume, im asking if i have to start from scratch next year for my cornell gpa because that means i have to get my crap together from the get go... each class will drastically change my gpa from semester to semester for the rest of undergraduate studies so that was my concern: whether or not my current university's gpa will "carryover" to cornell. i know it doesn't make sense to carry over, since a lot of people may have gone to easier schools, but i just wanted to make sure
