Like my core classes, I'm just horrible. I failed Algebra II and I got a 65 the second time I took it. Believe me, I have matured and I'm not proud about that. Actually the only core class I got a B average was Social Studies with a 82. Anyways my core class GPA is like a 73 which is what? 1.8? Yet if I add my electives in I have a 85 average exactly in high school which is a 3.0 I guess. What are colleges going to look at?

A 73 is probably a 2.1 or 2.2.
An 85 is a 3.4 or 3.5, I think. I always thought an 80 would be a 3.0.

I suck at Algebra. Don’t worry. I failed my midterm and final of Algebra I… literally got an F. Luckily my school doesn’t report exam grades on the official transcript or I’d be screwed. So trust me, you’re not alone!

Your college options might widen considerably if you consider spending two years at a local community college and then transferring to a respectable state university. Some states, like California and New York, have specific provisions for CC transfers. I think this can be a fantastic option for the under-performing high schooler (though it’s certainly understandable if you’d prefer a four-year college experience or really wouldn’t like to live at home for an extra two years–though it would save you and your family some serious $).

Okay. Well I’m going to apply to schools I like but if I don’t get in I guess I will have to go to community college. I’m just nervous I have been hearing classes are getting full and there at waiting lists for certain classes.
