Im a sophomore in high school. I have a 3.1 GPA. However,i am very bad in math. I failed algebra my 1st semester freshman year,so I had to take a 3 semester algebra course.(I took the regents this january and got a 69....) And apparently,to get into a CUNY college, you need to get a 80 or higher on the algebra regents to prove college readiness. I got a 69,but I had a 90 in my algebra class. Also,in my school,if you're taking the algebra regents, they put you in this class to "prepare you" called "Topics in algebra". It is honestly the worst class ever, the teachers treat us like we're dumb,we learn basic things like adding fractions the whole semester, and then for the last week we actually prepared for the regents, which didn't help at all.... I'm really worried because I DO NOT want to go to a community college.... I want to go to Brooklyn College(a CUNY school) but I'm worried that they will decline me because I have a 69 on the algebra 1 regents.... do 4 year CUNY schools offer remedial classes? I also am planning on retaking the algebra 1 regents, but i'm afraid that I might get put in that dumb "Topics in algebra" class to "prepare" me and im afraid that I might fail it....any advice?

Pursue independent study, a private tutor if you can afford it, or make a friend who is good in math (be sure to provide something that adds value to their life in return). If the instructional options are not getting you where you need to be, that is too bad but you can get there on your own.

Man, I feel bad, you’re not community college bound, trust me. Get a tutor, immediately. You can go to any college in the US, Brooklyn is not a need unless there are other reasons. What are you doing in Algebra right now?

I don’t have algebra anymore,I’m in geometry now.

What are you doing in Geo then, and what is your grade?
