I would like to know what colleges see when schools send a GPA. My school doesn't give out minuses or pluses, so everything that is an A is a 4, everything that's a B is a 3 and so on. As far as I know, my transcript does not mention my actual number grades, but will colleges still be able to see this so they can make their own calculations? My school doesn't rank either, which is a good thing because we're already quite competitive.

I’m actually wondering the same. I think I read that my school reports the letter grade one gets, and not the actual grade. For example, I think that a 92.6 and a 96.4 will both show up as an “A.”

You need to ask your HS what is sent on the transcript. That is what colleges will see.

Simply get a copy of your transcript and see what the admissions office sees. My school’s method for calculation of GPA penalizes for a minus grade but does not reward for a plus (an A- = 3.75). Most admission offices will re-adjust but you should check to make sure. My number one school’s admission office re-calculated but when it was time for determining awards/grants I found it the Financial Aid office used the GPA directly from the transcript. Luckily I was able to point this out and their adjustment was worth another $4k per year.
