being an international applicant,i dont really have much of a clue regarding GPA-i mean what can be considered a competitive GPA for the ivies- 3.5/4 and above?is 4.0 the highest possible??
also my school uses 3.6 as the highest possible GPA-so what woudl be an competitive gpa out of 3.6-3.2 and above?
please help me clarify this confusion!!

I don't have a gpa either but my school did send along a type of legend for the grades. We get grades on a scale of 1-7 (IB) and basically in one part of the legend it says:
7-A+
6-A
5-B
4-C
3-D (passing mark)
2-F
1-F
and then on another part of the legend it says that gpa's are out of 7.0 with a 7 representing a 7.0 and a 6 a 6.0 and so on., and one gets their cummulative gpas by deviding the points they get by the total num. of units attempted.
iv gotten like 6s and 7s but i dont have a 7.0 when i calculate it useing the schools weeiirrd method - i have like an avg of 6.2/6.3 eventho i dont have anything less than an A according to them. is this ok for yale?

Schools generally have all different ways of calculating GPAs, and you can be assured that all the places you apply will take your GPA in the context of the school and method of calculation.
So, icy there really is no easy way to answer your question.

yeah it seems like every school has a different way of doing it. dont worry about it, i know at least one american person on this website with grades calculated like yours. ive never even haerd of elodie's style. so dont worry about it. as long as you're doing well, you'll be fine.

ahhh thanks shark and candlize! feels relieved..
