Hey.
I'm from Romania and here our scores are on a scale from 1 to 10. My average is 9.52-9.40. How can I calcualte my GPA? Plese help!

I have similar problem. In Russia GPA is calculated only out of final grades. So should I do as in Russia or as in USA?

The transcripts that are included with the school report should have the grades as they are reported - if it's a 1 to 10 scale, then on a 1 to 10 scale.

You needn't try to calculate a GPA on the American system... I think colleges prefer to do that. Someone confirm.

yeah the college should recalculate it themselves. I only worked on domestic apps not on intl ones but we recalculated GPA's for american kids. besides, since it's on a 1-10 scale you can just multiply it by 10 to give you an idea of what it would be on a 100pt scale (such as some american schools use)
Leave it to the colleges to figure out an official GPA, but if you want a ballpark idea to help you work out where to apply I would estimate it to be about a 3.8.

Ok. Thanks. Umm... do you think my scores are good enough for Yale?

hey!!!! can anyone tell me if 3.8 GPA is good enough for Yale?

To andra: of course it is good, come on. it's nearly perfect. Though I haven't really heard whether they have minimum GPA requirements, and I don't know what their median GPA is:( So, really, apply, and you'll see

Thanks manyzhka! I'll apply!!!!!!! :))

Hi,

You should definitively apply. I attend the Liceum "Coriolan Brediceanu" in Lugoj and I have GPA of 9.56. I think with a GPA in this range there is a realistic chance.

La revedere!

Waw...inca un roman...yey!
I attend C.N. "Elena Cuza" in Craiova. When are you panning to apply? At what colleges?
pa pa~

I am applying to Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and Dartmouth for Regular Action review. I have already submitted my applications and taken the SAT II German and Math IC (scores: 800 and 770, respectively). But I still have to take the SAT II Latin and the ACT in december.

Perhaps we will meet some time.

Tschau

I want to go to Yale, so through some research, i should get GPA of at least 3.75+. Just want to ask u guys if u know what kind of extracurricular activities they look for in an application, and what kind of courses are critical in high school.

If your school doesnt calculate GPA you dont need to. The colleges understand your schooling system.

you dont even need to calculate your GPA...they will calculate it for u by themselves regardless of where ur applying from...atleast this is true for U Penn because i applied there early (got deferred) and the person who read my application said that she recalculated my GPA...
