hey everyone,

i want to know if i have few bad grade like 2D's and 3C's on my transcript, then do i stiil have a chance? My GPA is 3.8 and the D's and C's are not average in because its from my Spanish class and my school doesn't count those. Also, my rank, SAT, SAT2, and EC are very strong.

2 D’s and 3 C’s is hardly “a few”. Why doesn’t your school count Spanish? Knowing a foreign language is a valuable skill. Being able to learn an entirely different set of rules and grammar is important - it shows you can think critically and have command over language. There’s not much you can do about it now. What I would say is, focus your time on improving your writing and speaking skills so that when you write your essays you can show that you’re more than just your very strong numbers.

Don’ t let the previous comment get you down. Five bad grades is a lot, but if you have a 3.8 then you must have really made up for it in your strong classes. Take it as a learning experience and you will have made the best of it.

thank you for the response. i was think if i take AP Spanish, will it make up for the bad grade. i’m not bad in Spanish, it is just the whole class are native Spanish speakers, so the teacher teaches the class in a very hard level. Also i’m switching to Chinese 2 next year to make up for my bad language grade.

Your school might not count them, but Adcom probably will so you might not have as high of a GPA as you think. GL.
