Gpa

i have good EC's and good test scores. but my GPA is between a 3.5-3.6. do i have a chance? i am a junior by the way
thanks

please reply! i really need your advice! will this GPA ruin my chances?

GPA can't make or break you if it's 3.6, it certainly won't help you, though. [Disclaimer] I'm no expert, but I think your GPA is lower than the average admitted student. Focus on the whole app, though.

Whoa, take a deep breath and calm down.

You're doing just fine, but I think ranking is more important than GPA because it puts your grade in perspective. If you're in the top 10% you're in great shape, if you're in the top 25% you're probably fine. You can still get in if you're below that, you'll just need to accentuate those ECs.

You're still a junior so the best thing you can do is focus on the rest of this year and get a nice solid finish this year. Try your best, and relax, the only people that are able to tell you that you can't get in are the admissions board. No matter what you think the outcome will be or what anyone else tells you, put in an application. If you express interest and talent, and have a strong finish to your junior year, although admissions is largely a crapshoot you'll have a shot.

I had a 3.53 GPA after my junior year and got into engineering (760m/730v SAT). White male, mid-Atlantic, non-legacy. My class rank was top 5% though, and I did have a sort of "hook."

But really - don't sweat it. I had something like a 3.1 for freshman and sophomore year because I never had any interest in certain classes (Biology, Spanish IV were both C's). Once I got into stuff that I liked, I had a 4.0 junior and now senior year.

Definitely don't be deterred from applying and giving it a shot. I didn't expect to get in until I saw the Congratulations letter 3 months ago. Just keep working hard :)

That's another thing, most people think that 1 C will kill you as well (and I had 2). **** that, haha. There's more to an applicant than their report card. You just need to focus on those things on you app rather than dwelling on something like a 3.6 GPA.

thanks for everyones comments!

if i do a lot of extracurriculars will that help a lot? i am enrolled in ap and honors classes. and i might do the summer program at cornell. will that help only if i apply early or does it help rd too?
