So I have a question, how exactly does UTK calculate the admissions GPA? I've heard people describe it to me about ten different ways and I just want an answer. I currently have a GPA of around 2.6 (I know that's bad). This is my senior year and my goal is to get all As so I can pull it up. I'm taking dual enrollment English. That's the only honors/AP/dual enrollment class I've taken my entire high school career, however the way I've calculated the GPA, if I get all As I could still come out with a 3.0-3.1. Anyways my question is, how does UTK calculate GPAs and what would mine be? Thanks

UTK calculates their admissions GPA’s a little differently than most colleges. They take only your grades from your core classes (English, Math, Scince, and History) from each year to calculate your GPA. This eliminates the easy A classes such as PE and art etc. in order to show how well you did in your main classes. That’s called your core GPA. Then they take your core GPA and weight it depending on what honors/AP/Dual enrollment classes you have taken.
