I have a question concerning my GPA. I am a freshman and currently have a 95 average and I calculated my GPA out and it is a 3.8! I would like a 4.0 GPA, but I thought that if you have an A average it would automatically be a 4.0 so I am not sure how it works. Is a 4.0 GPA an A+ average?
Thanks!
A 4.0 is a perfect score, unless you take weighted classes in which it’s a 5.0. It would be the equivalent of a 100 average or 100+ for weighted. How many colleges calculate it (according to my guidance counselor) is with the formula GPA=(x/20)-1. In your case, 95/20=4.75 That subtracted by one is 3.75. Hope I helped!
^ No. To get your GPA on a 4.0 scale you need to look at the grades from EACH class. If all your averages were above a 93 then that’s a 4.0. Some schools use a 90 as the breakpoint instead of a 93, like here: http://www.gradetracker.com/academy/4-0-gpa-scale-calculator
But in each case you need to look class by class (times the # of credits for each).
^ Yes.
You could also have your GC do it for you.
