Since I don’t know much about grad school and wanted to set a goal for my GPA for college, I was wondering what, generally, a good GPA range to get into top M.Arch programs is. Thanks!
I don’t have the inside track on MArch admissions, but my observation is that it depends on a lot of factors, of which GPA is just one. I would think that GPAs could fall anywhere from 3.0 to 4.0 (obviously, higher is better) and that your undergraduate school and choice of major is taken in consideration, as are your grades in architecture related courses.
Other factors are your portfolio (top priority), recommendations, personal statement, life and work experience and demographics.I don’t think GRE Scores are significant.
You’ve got a few years before you have to start worrying about graduate school. What you can do in the meantime is take advantage of everything your undergraduate program has to offer in the way of contacts and networking, build up your portfolio, spend your summers proactively and learn about your options for funding your MArch.
Many MArch programs offer information sessions that can help you understand what they’re looking for.
@momrath I know that there are many more important factors, but I am trying to set a reasonable goal for my GPA so that I know what to shoot for. Thanks for getting back to me!!
