<p>I read somewhere that UNC doesn't recalculate GPA's for applicants. Can anyone verify or denounce this? I don't see why they wouldn't redo them, yet it said that they take what the high school gives them.</p>

<p>Your HS should send a paper explaining how you do your GPA. My school in FL did it wayyy differently than HSs in NC.</p>
<p>For example:
My HS in FL: .025 was added on to your GPA for every honors and AP level course you took. There was no extra weight added to AP.</p>
<p>A HS in NC: an extra point to the individual letter grade for honors, and two extra points for the individul letter grade for AP.</p>
<p>They'll take that entirely in to consideration, but I'm not sure if they physically recalculate it themselves.</p>
<p>You're exactly right, fromdistantstar. I called them after school, and they said that they throw out the GPA and look at the grades. The end result is the same as another college that does a recalculated GPA, they just don't actually make another GPA.</p>
