Gpa

Can somebody please calculate my GPA (weighted and unweighted) using whatever standards exist for college admission?

I have no idea what methodology colleges typically use or how the GPAs I see here are calculated.

Thanks!

I skipped sophomore year.

Freshman Year:
World Lit Honors B|B|B|B
Global II Honors B+|B+|B|B+
Pre-calc Research Honors B+|B+|B+|A+
AP Physics B B+|B+|A|A+
Spanish 9 Honors A|A|A|A

Junior Year:
American Lit Honors C|B+|B|B
US History Honors A|A+|A|A+
AP Calc BC A|A|A+|A
AP Physics C A|A+|A+|A+
Spanish 10 Honors B+|B|B+|A
Science Research Seminar A+|A+|A+|A+

Senior Year:
AP US Gov A|- (semester)
AP Biology A|-|-|-
AP Chemistry A|-|-|-
Multivariable Calculus A+|-|-|-
Spanish 11 Honors B|-|-|-
Great Lit Honors B|-|-|-
Independent Research A+|-|-|-

2.4 gpa and 2.9 weighted gpa

If B = 3, B+ = 3.5, and A = 4

3.666 uw

looks like a 3.64 for me.

Many schools have different systems.

Where are you applying?

Tufts
Columbia
Dartmouth
UPenn
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Rice
Northwestern
Duke
U Michigan
Georgiatech
Caltech
WashU

Usually, they only use semester grades which I am assuming is the 2nd and 4th grades. So I'm going to use that. A=4, B=3. Only 1 honor point for APs. I'll also assume that the grades for your senior year are your semester grades.

UW: 3.61.
W: 4.04.

However, using all of the quarter grades...

UW: 3.55
W: 3.88

Actually, the 2nd and 4th are those respective quarters. The semesters would, I suppose, be the averages of 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

Ok, well gimme your semester grades (since those are usually all that's on your transcript) and I can give you an accurate GPA.

UMich uses your sophomore and junior grades only, so I'm going to use your freshman grades as your sophomore grades.

UMich GPA: 3.59.

Well, my school only gives semester grades for non-AP, but I'll average the AP grades anyway.

Freshman Year:

Thanks a lot! Anybody willing to confirm the weighted?

I didn't want to make a new thread, but I got a copy of my transcript. Here's what the colleges will see:

Course Title - Grade - Credit
Freshman:
World Lit H - B - 1
Global History H - B+ - 1
Pre-Cal Research Honors - A - 1
Physics B AP - A - 1
Spanish 9H - A - 1

Junior:
American Lit H - B - 1
US Hist & Govt H - A+ - 1
Calculus BC AP - A - 1
Physics C AP - A+ - 1
Natural Science Research Seminar - A+ - 1
Spanish 10H - A - 1
Health - A+ - .5

Senior (1st semester, not on transcript yet, but by convention):
Great Literature H - B+ - 1
Govt & Pol AP - A - .5
Multivar Calculus - A+ - .5
Biology AP - A - 1
Chemistry AP - A - 1
Independent Science Research - A+ -.5
Spanish 11H - B+ - 1

Thanks so much for helping me! I know I'm being a pain, but I'm so paranoid and I feel like my school-calculated UW GPA of 3.435 is low compared with how this will be recalculated by colleges.

why did you skip sophomore year? in my opinion that sort of screwed you over. you could/should have used your freshmen year to get used to high school so that you could have a sophomore year.

EDIT:
also you are doing something wrong. there is no way you have a 3.435. should be around 3.7 or maybe even 3.8.

A & A+ = 4
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
right?

I was sort of forced into it. I can't change it now, so I don't really like to discuss it.

That is what my school, not I, calculated by their system:
A+ = 4.0
A = 3.5
B+ = 3.0
B = 2.5
