now, my gpa isnt so good, but im taking all honors and ap classes. im only a freshman, and doing a ton of ec and sports. im doing football and baseball… do ec really help??? and if so how much?? money isnt the issue for going to a college, its just my gpa im worried about. please give me some advice.!!!

Nothing will beat out a good GPA. Youre only a freshman. Turn it around this semester and get the grades.

Grades are the most important thing. Really. But like Modadunn said, you're only a freshman. You have time to pull up your GPA. Start now.

Please do not waste your freshmen year in high school or else you will suffer to the same fate that me and others have suffered to. If your transcript doesn't look very good, it will bother you later in your Junior year. Start pulling the whatever GPA you got right now to a 92-94%. It's good that you have Honors and APs because a lot of competitive schools out there want to see you are independent with challenging courses.

Colleges also look at other things such as SAT scores, Subject tests, and Extracurriculars (volunteer work or leadership).

Hey, ever since I was in 10th grade, I wanted to go to NYU. But that ain't my dream school anymore. I can see that after you've posted in the Amherst forum, you like Amherst. Maybe when you grow a bit older, you might be like "I will look into other schools that I will like besides Amherst."
