Gpa

When colleges look at gpa for acceptance into college (regular decision), does it include 1st semester of senior year or is senior year just to check and make sure your gpa hasn't dropped significantly?

BUMP…I really hope that the 1st semester gpa counts when the school sees your total gpa and decides whether to accept you because it may help me improve my cumulative gpa. However, if they look at it merely to check on senoritis it may not be helpful

Hi
My experience varied by college. One did not even consider GPA, they only looked at the letter grade and converted it to their number. Others used the letter grade and added extra for honor classes.

To be sure you know, call the college admission office. Another point to consider, my daughter’s school did not recalculate the gpa for the first term of senior year. They just sent in what the number was at the end of junior year. I think this is a disservice to the student but they were just too unorganized to even understand the importance of it.

The actual GPA# nowadays is almost useless beyond a point. Some schools weight even honors classes while some schools only weight AP classes. Usually you can tell something about a school’s grading system when you see 4.7w then 2100 SAT and 700 on SAT IIs. College will look at your transcript, so see what you think when you look at it. If it’s just got 1-4 Bs, it wont keep you out, but you would still need something much more to make it to HYPSMC
