I’m looking into difference courses that I’ll be taking for grad school. This will be for my MA in History.
For the most part I’m seeing courses that are 3-4 credits each. But, once in a while I’m seeing courses at are 6 credits each. The schools that have the 6 credit each are non-profit, accredited schools, so I know it’s not the public / for profit school route.
What gives? Is this something that is done sometimes?
Just depends. My first semester of grad school (science Ph.D.) I had a 7 credit “core course” that everyone was required to take. It met M-F for 2.5 hours every week for one semester. All of my other classes have been 1 to 3 credits. Also keep in mind that what is considered a full time student is often different from undergrad. In undergrad I was full time at 12 credits, in grad school I’m considered full time with 9 credits.
In my D’s first semester of grad school (PhD), she had a 6 credit corei course that was required.
