What's the point in these?

Are there actually grad degrees in actuarial science? I tot actuaries just take exams?

What schools award them??

Actually, my friend is working to become an actuary. She recently had an actuary internship at a LARGE insurance company. They told her the best, most direct path to becoming an actuary is to take the exams. No specific degree is require other than the usual bachelors (something relevant though). Usually you would take the first exam, pass, then obtain an actuary position. All subsequent exams would be paid for by your company, and for each exam you pass you get a pay increase.

I don't know much more than that... I guess the additional degree wouldn't hurt, it just wouldn't help too much.
