Which degree for Actuarial Science?

Hey everyone, I'm a sophomore majoring in mathematics at the University of Alabama, and I've decided to pursue a career as an actuary. Right now, I'm on track to get my MBA a year after I graduate through a special honors program, but I am also considering getting a master's in applied statistics with a concentration in actuarial science by the time I graduate, also through an honors program at UA. I was wondering which degree would be more beneficial to me as I am not sure if I can or even want to try to get both degrees.

Degree? Actuarial science isn’t about degrees, it’s about exams and how fast you can pass them. Literally no one gives a darn about my UG school, GPA or major, they just care about how many exams I passed. Sad truth.

That said, I think having a masters degree is good for general knowledge BUT it will in no way help you get an entry level actuarial position. To be competitive for the entry level actuarial you’ll likely need exams P, FM and maybe even MFE passed. Good luck!
