Grad School for Foreign Language

What are the (general) requirements? Do you usually have to have a B.A. in the language or will a minor do? I'm trying to decide whether to double-major or minor in French; my primary goal is to go to law school, but if I don't make it/that doesn't work out, grad school for French would be my 'back-up'.

Thanks.

Bump, please help?

Hello, I can't speak for all programs, but many of them look for a "strong background" which is usually defined as a BA. My gut is that most schools would consider a BA before a minor. Some might not consider the minor at all because of the large amount of upper level courses in language they are looking for which sometimes only come from majoring.

Ok, gotcha, thanks for the response.

This from a well-regarded college with master's degrees in foreign languages: "Candidates for a Master of Arts from xxx College must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. They must also have completed course work equivalent to a major in the target language and be able to demonstrate this level of linguistic proficiency." I would suggest you go onto the websites of a few other colleges with MAs in French and see what the admission requirements are.
