I read somewhere that W&M is notoriously known for grade deflation.

Is this true? How does the difficultly of classes at W&M compare to other comparable schools in the area?

Is this true? How does the difficultly of classes at W&M compare to other comparable schools in the area?

yes, it is true.

I know of multiple classes that were curved down, as in: class average on the exam was an 85, so everyone loses X number of point. (In this case, X is like 5-10 points). Many exams are cuved to a C+ (78-79), or a B- at 80.

I also know of multiple classes that didn't curve at all, when the class average on an exam was in the 60s. Half the class fails the exam? Why not? =/

W&M is sometimes referred to as "the academic boot camp of the east coast"... take from that what you will.

which classes tend to do that?

I know of physics classes with D averages on exams, Intro Science courses where they curve down, and Psych classes with D averages on exams.
