Here it is:

Prompt:
“A little inaccuracy saves a world of explanation.”
C.E.Ayers

Assignment:
Is it always essential to tell the truth, or are there circumstances in which it is better to lie? Plan your response, and then write an essay.

In certain circumstances, it is better to lie. Demonstrated in the literary novel 1984, the main protagonist, Winston Smith, lied to rebel against the government. Mark Twain's Huck Finn even had to lie to in order to receive food and necessities. In life, a white lie won't hurt your friend's feelings. It is not always essential to tell the truth, it depends on the events that surround it.

In 1984 by George Orwell, it shows how the government is corrupt. There are huge screens with the government party leader's head on it, and the government is always watching it's citizens. The main character throughout the book, Winston Smith, decided to ignore the rules and buys himself a notebook at a store near his house. When he arrives home, he starts writing down his thoughts, which circulates around bring down the government. Later on in the book, he was brought into testimony with a government worker and he lied completely through it. Mr. Smith constantly lied to friends, families, and polices to voice his opinions.

As shown in Mark Twain's classic, The Huckleberry Finn, it shows how lying is not only essential, but someone's life can be depended on it. Huck Finn traveled with Jim, a runaway black man, and sailed up the Mississippi River. While still in slavery country, Finn had to gather food and information if the police is trying to find his friend. In order to figure out facts, Huck had to lie that he was a girl to Mrs. Loftus. If Mr. Finn didn't do this, Jim would never be free. In the end, it also shows how lying is beneficial. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn both pretended to servants to get Jim out of his locked-out home. All of these events show how there are some circumstances that require lying for the better morals.

In life, we also have to lie every once in a while. Last summer I had to lie to my best friend on how her fashion sense. For her first day of school, she wanted to wear a brightly neon theme outfit. I couldn't scream," NO, that is terrible!" which can cause an argument or hurt her feelings. These are one of the circumstances that truth-telling can also create havoc.

C.E.Ayers once said, “A little inaccuracy saves a world of explanation.” As demonstrated in two literary novels and in life, truth telling isn't always the best choice. True, being truthful let the other person know how you truly feel, but the side effects can be much worse.

Thanks ^
And no problem. Your essay gave me ideas on how to write a good essay. So I should thank YOU! :)

Also should I (as practice) to not time the essay until I reach a good score? Because I doubt all this timed essays is going to make me a better writer

If there’s one thing that automatically lowers the grade of the essay, it’s examples in the intro paragraph. Just don’t do it! Your intro should only be general information and your thesis. No 1984 reference, nor Mark Twain reference. Period. Also, your thesis should be the last sentence, not the first. And, the last sentence that you have in the intro paragraph has incorrect grammar.

Sorry, to lazy to read the whole thing.
