Hello. Can someone please grade my essay? I’d be very grateful to you. Any type of comment is welcome.
Prompt: Is knowing facts as important as understanding ideas and concepts?
It is largely beneficial to have knowledge on different subjects. However, having facts is not as important as understanding the concepts behind those facts. Humans beings have the ability to think logically. Our understanding ability helps us to achieve success, instead of memorizing facts unessentially. Knowing facts is amusing, fascinating and it helps to make you look like a smarter person, but it is worthless if you can not comprehend the meaning.
Legion examples to support this statement can be found. For instance, we all are taught various subjects at school. We all are assumed to memorize all the facts, theories and formulae - but only the wiser ones know how to implement these in their lives. If one understand the core concepts of these, only then one will be able to track his or her financial live by budgeting, will know how to treat each patient with distinct symptoms, will never overpay the shopkeeper or get deceived by them etc. On the other hand, if all a doctor does is replete his or her brain with facts, then what’s the difference between using artificial intelligence and having a doctor at a clinic?
Insightfulness and better concepts has led to zillion changes in our lives. From the introduction of theories and concepts by well known physicians, scientists, economists and so on to new innovative creations being made. Recently, an American school boy - merely 14 years old- Ahmed, made a homemade watch. Had this been possible if he had no understanding of how watches are made? The creation of different applications for phones, robots, physics laws and so on must have come from a person who understands all the facts.
In conclusion, I believe the ability to logically understand is a blessing for humans- which is not available to other living creatures. Hence, we should wisely use it for creative purposes, inventions and to get more than just straight As in our exams sheets.
