Grade you were in when you took the SAT?

I'm just curious: what grade were you guys in when you took your first SAT?

I'm a sophomore and I'll be taking my first in March.

It was in April of my Junior year. I wouldn't take it so early but if you feel as if you're ready than go ahead. Have you taken any prep classes or practice tests?

My older D, junior year; my younger D, 7th grade.

My D the Psat in 7-10th grades, and her SAT her Jr in April-one sitting-did not feel a need to retake it.
Be sure to take your Psat your Jr. year so that you can be considered for Natl. Merit Finalist.

senior... ops... I was kindda lazy...

I took it in March sophomore year and scored 2120 (740CR/660M/720W). I retook it senior year and scored 2280 (800CR/760M/710W).

Both D's took the test as 7th graders, and again as 8th graders....for CTY. Their scores wouldn't have gotten them into HYP at the time, but it was fun to look at all the universities across the country that their scores WOULD have been OK for....

Their high school also gave the PSAT 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, even tho 9th and 10th grade was really just for practice. I agree w/ APOL....make sure and take the PSAT your Jr. Year, even if you've already taken the SAT. If you score high enough to get National Merit, you'd be amazed at what it can do for you, especially if you are really open about where you want to go to school.

cameliasinensis, did you study at all for your first attempt or did you just wing it?

I didn't study at all. I did the second time, though.

Junior- dec-06

same as linkinpark..april of my junior year. only took it once woohoo

January junior year, age 14 -- 800 CR/730M/690 W. November senior year, age 15 -- 800 CR/770M/750 W.

December and January junior year, age 15, 800CR/640M/800W, and 800CR/730M/770W.

December junior year, age 15, 800CR/780W/780M. (Never retook it :))

april, soph year...2220 (800w)
april, junior year, 2250 (800 cr and math)

and then i was all set...taking it early is nice so that you can save the other test dates for sat iis...good luck!

7th grade, for CTY. (700V/710M/writing not offered)
