When did you guys first take the SAT?

And when did you first start studying for it? I'm a rising junior, definitely taking the PSAT next year. not sure about the SAT though.

I technically took it first in 7th grade. The first time I took it for real was December of junior year. I’d suggest taking a practice exam (under just about REAL conditions) as early as possible though.

I started studying in the summer of my sophomore year by making ~300 vocab cards and reviewing grammar rules that I was previously familiar with throughout middle school and freshman year. I took my first in March of sophomore year with a 2170. My second was in January of junior year with a 1920 (yeah I had a terrible day for having a 250 point drop). I just took my third in June with a 2150 and I now have a superscore of a 2220. As you tell, I started pretty early, and my peers were praising me for achieving a 2170 at such an early time. But then, my friends began taking the test in their junior year, achieving scores as good or higher than mine. From this, I don’t think it matters when you take the test, so long as you prepare well and study hard before you actually do take the SAT, whenever you do take it.
