just wanted to let you guys know

yeah I'm pretty happy I actually passed

but us incoming freshmen can t see em right?

Considering you've never taken a class at Cornell before, I'm not sure whose grades you were expecting to see lol

4.078 for me this semester (didn't get the A+ in bio chem like I thought I would but did get a A+ in physics). For those of you who think I'm bragging, you're right.

That's amazing, norcalguy. Brag away.

go calguy.

btw: does Cornell give a 4.3 for A+? Is A- a 3.7?

Did you do anything but study?

I have a 4.1, but I only took two courses (last summer). Nice job Norcalguy, that's awesome, you have every right to brag.

I think you should brag a little bit more than that, come on, over a 4.0. Brag some more, make some kids feel bad, you earned that right. :)

4.3 for an A+ I think.

spn2200: I do research and participate in a few clubs but admittedly the social life was lacking (although I made up for it by partying my @$$ off at UC Davis two weeks ago). I think I went out maybe 1-2 times a month. One of my roommates next year is determined to drag me out more:)

Yup. 4.0+ is hardwork at Cornell. I had to steal a lot of notes and sabatoge a lot of expts. for my grades :p

I had a MUCH LOWER GPA last semester while only taking 12 credits so it's definitely been an up and down experience for me so far at Cornell.

I found out about grad schools during the first week of classes so I've done basically nothing but drinking and partying since then ... I deserved the poor marks

Premed for me. I don't have the luxury.

shizz what do u mean "i found out about grad schools during the first week of classes so I've done basically nothing but drinking and partying since then ... I deserved the poor marks" ??

can somebody pls list what A and B and Cs etc are again?? sory to re ask...in both GPA and % would really help...and ill copy it down and save it this time...(mind my canadiannesss, lol i want to learn the american way) thanks in advance...

A+=4.3 A=4 A-=3.7 B+=3.3 B=3 B-=2.7 and so on... The percentages depend on the class and the professor (for example, I had one prof that didn't give out any B- and another who gave only A+ for a 99 or 100 when most would give an A+ for a 97 or above).

ugh, another grade that got messed up. i get one every semester! it's such a drag when they can just look on blackboard and SEE their mistake. why me?!! There haven't been one semester that I haven't asked a professor to change my grades cuz they messed up on it. So far, only my FWS from first semester freshman year didn't change it. stupid bnutch had personal problems and left the university without changing my grades even though I was asking for it for a year, and instead, she just disappears on me, and i had to find out through the dean that she left. argh! i hate grades.

I'm wondering if the registrar/professor really messed up on your grades every semester. In terms of grading, you should always be conservative and try to objectively evaluate the quality of work and time you have been putting in your studies.

whats in between 3.3 and 3.7, big jump no? and even between 4.0 and 4.3...cant u get 4.2 or even 4.14 etc? lol, nebody know why percentages arent just used, doesnt it seem easier to nebody else..wuts the use in letters or gpa?

well, the profs beside the first semester one did admit they were wrong and CHANGED my grade. I had evidence for the first one that I never received below an A in her class (she was a GRAD student) and it took forever to get the dean to FORCE her to have a meeting with me. She did, but she said she was going to take some more time to decide (why, who knows) and a little later, she never responded to my email, the dean refused to intervene since he had with the interview and that she had a leave of absence for personal reasons and that was that. she was the only one that could change my grades, and she didn't. As for this semester, the prof has already emailed me saying sorry. but i just hate emailing them and bothering them about it, that's how you make enemies you know, and yeah, a couple of GPA doesn't add up, but so far, if I never did anything about it, I would have .05 gpa LOWER than my current one. And finally, when on their papers they give out at the beginning of the year say a 92.5 is an A, and I get 92.8 for example, I deserve an A! It even says so on my blackboard GRADES. I studied and got the grade, now I want it reflected correctly.

The gpa's i stated earlier exactly you recieve for each letter grade distribution. Percentage grades are not reported to you, just a letter grade. Who knows why, thats just the way Cornell does it. You can have a gpa in between those numbers when all of your grades are averaged together.

To those premeds:

How is our GPA recorded? How does our system out of 4.3 work? I mean, I've heard that AMCAS just records the A+ as an A since no one can have a 4.3. That would suck hardcore. Also, what GPAs do medschools look at. cumulative? science? non-science?

thanks for your help.
