4.2 yay

Just checked. Mine aren't out...

4.2? WTH?

Grades are UP....

for me at least.... GPA went down but STILL on Dean's List! YES!

Argh... I checked again and yeah, mine are up. Disappointing... meh. As long as I'm in good standing I don't care.

4.2? HOLY ****. Congrats, Grant! You put my 3.96 to shame (at least I got an A in orgo!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH STILL IN COMPLETE SHOCK.)

you people are too smart
what's the average for 1st semester frosh and why doesn't mind say the gpa, just the grades for each individual class?

well, if I had taken orgo I dont think Id be having a 4.2

what's your major grant?

Yeah the actual GPA numbers aren't up yet, but I think most people are just calculated them on their own.
I believe that most ILR classes allow students to get A+'s. This is unfair compared to their counterparts in social sciences/humanities (especially humanities) in A&S, where A+'s are given in only exceptional cases or are not given at all.
But congrats nonetheless Grant15, that means you must have gotten A+ in almost every class.

Congratulations to everyone who got good grades. To those who didn't, if you're not premed, who gives a *****?

BTW: I did get a 4.1 while taking orgo, physics, and biochem. I'm sure gobigred731 will challenge that next semester ;)

ctown09-that's not true. Plenty of CAS classes give A+'s. That's how I got a 4.2+ as a CAS senior bio major w/ senioritis.

Yeah it's true that CAS science/math class do give A+'s regularly to the top students--not at all easy to get those though--but in humanities and social sciences, many classes to not give them. I know in philosophy and several upper-level econ classes it's not possible.
These types of majors are those most often competing with ILR majors for law school admission.

Do you really think I took a semester of all sciences in my senior year? lol

Two of my A+'s that semester were in Pysch 101 and DSoc 324. The other A+ in Bio290. It's harder to guage whether you're A+-level in a humanities course due to the subjective grading but there are plenty of non-science, non-ILR courses that give out A+'s.

I don't know how law schools do it but med schools automatically convert your A+'s to A's. Guess what? It's not a big deal. I lost 7 A+'s and yet my GPA only dropped 0.05. A+'s have minimal impact if your GPA is already high. So, don't sweat the A+'s that ILR kids may or may not be getting.

Yeah it's not a huge difference but law schools actually do count A+'s as 4.33's. The real losers are those who go to schools like Yale where no A+'s are given at all.

how do you tell if you made deans list?

Yaaa 4.0!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!! Great job everyone you all did excellent!

ps I think deanslist is like this

Fresh: 1.4
Soph: 1.5
Junior n Senior: 1.6

1.4? where would that be on JTF?

I think Figgy means "3" when he writes "1." But I think Dean'd List varies by college also.

alright, so JTF won't actually say if you made dean's list or not. you just need to check the requirements of your college.

Sem. 5 4.05, 3.96 cum.

Premed or prelaw.
