Hi!
I am currently a freshman in high school. I was wondering if colleges will really care about freshman grades? Semesters haven’t even begun and I have an A in Spanish 4 (advanced rigorous class with juniors and seniors), A+ in civics, A in gym & band (I don’t know if these classes really matter). However, I have a B in bio-physical and geometry (which are the most important classes to me) and a B+ in rigorous English (teacher said I didn’t turn in my homework even though I did). My question is, in a hypothetical situation, if I continue to have these grades through out freshman year, will colleges care I have 2 B’s and one B+. I’m really nervous because this is a bad start to freshman year with these grades. I know I’m involved in model united nations, DECA, tennis, piano, and volunteered at a 2 week camp for helping kids with special needs. I know colleges also focus on clubs, etc., but do they count freshman year? I would really like do be a doctor and I have an interest and math and sciences are obviously a priority in the medical field, so this is why I’m nervous. I know I am being too hopeful, but I am hoping to go to good medical colleges such as Johns Hopkins university, Wash. U etc. My courses for sophomore year will hopefully be AP Spanish or semester class, Physics, Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 for pre calculus (two different classes), wind symphony, rigorous english, and maybe AP world history.
Thanks,
Anxious freshman
