Grades, Credits & Financial Aid

My son just learned that he received a "NG" (no grade) for one of his classes from this past semester. There is apparently work he still needs to complete that his professor indicated would be added to next semester's work (it's a class with multiple levels) and then a grade would be applied retroactively.

Because this now moves him down from 12 to 9 credits, will this impact the financial aid that he received from last semester? If so, would he either be required to refund part of his Stafford Loan or would he need to start repaying it now? Or would it be deducted from the loan amount he was granted for this upcoming semester? Same with his Pell Grant -- would he be required to refund some of this money? Any guidance appreciated. Thanks.

FA typically requires full time enrollment, which he was. It shouldn’t effect his FA unless he has some issues with his standing at the school.

His aid will not be removed retroactively. The only issue that might come up would be if he were to have failed some other class(es) … and the NG might put him into SAP issues. However, that does not seem to be the case for him (if it was, he would lose future - not past - aid).
