Grades dropping in junior year?

The first semester of my junior year is about to end and things aren't going well - not horribly, but not as well as they should. I'm on a block schedule, so I've got four classes this semester and four different classes next semester. I've had a rough semester, because the difficulty of my courses went up pretty drastically (and unexpectedly) and it's looking like I'm going to finish this semester with Bs in Honors Chemistry, my standard math class, and Honors US History. My chemistry grade has improved pretty dramatically from first quarter to second quarter, but not enough for my semester average to be an A, and I've stayed about the same in US history and math. I'll definitely have a very solid A/A+ in Honors French 3.

So the question is: how badly is it going to affect my chances of getting into a good school if I make 3 Bs this semester but make all As second semester?

If you could pull that off, it would look good, maybe not HYPSM good, but you don’t appear to be on that track anyway. There are plenty of good schools that would accept you with 3 Bs, particularly if you apply RD and have a really good 1st semester senior year.

The one I’m most worried about is Barnard, which I’m planning on probably applying to ED (but that could very well change in the next year). I’m just freaking out because I’ve only made two Bs so far in high school (one freshman year in Honors Geometry and one last year in Honors Bio - I’m terrible at math and science is getting iffy) so to make three in one single semester has been causing a pretty significant amount of stress.

I’m not too worried about next semester, though - it’ll be all honors and either two community college classes on alternating days or an AP but I think the fact I’ll be taking APUSH immediately after having taken Honors US will help and everything else is stuff I’ve always excelled at.
