Hi,
I'm a freshman at community college who is taking a few G.E. classes but one of them is so hard to get a good grade in because right now I have a high "C" at 78 percent. As of right now there are two tests, a final, and a paper due that are still going to be added before the semester is over. My question is if I end the semester with a grade of a "C" in this class is it bad, or should I just withdraw from it while I still have time? I'm concerned about my GPA and what it'll be as well as a "C" showing up on the transript for transferring. In all my other four classes that I am taking I practically have an "A" in all of those if that makes a difference.

If all of your other classes are in the A range, I doubt one C will break you.

So a “C” in a G.E. class is not that big of deal especially in comparison to my other classes? I’m worried cause I thought it is best to get an “A” or “B” in all college classes and I feel if the grade does not change to a “B” soon that I should withdraw rather than take the “C” and have to take the class again for a better grade.

I personally would (and did) drop a class I was risking a “C” in. A GE class just isn’t worth a drop in your GPA.

As long as you have at least a 3.5, you’re in pretty good shape. Most schools only require you have a 3.0 to keep your scholarships. And financial aid often has even lower requirements.

Assuming all of your classes are three credit hour courses, your GPA would be about a 3.6.

And if you got a C+, it’d be a bit higher.

I’m looking to transfer to University of Southern California or UC Berkeley for business by fall 2013. I hope I did not hurt my chances, or I hope this grade will not hurt me too much for admission upon transfer. By the way it is a humanities class that I have a “C” in right now.
