Grades suffering as a result of LD

Hello all, I am not sure if this is the best place to ask this so please let me know if otherwise. I am currently a first semester sophomore in high school and as of right now, it does not look like my grades will be in good shape this semester. This is a result of my ADD which was undiagnosed prior to this and I will be getting help soon. My question is, how will a single semester of high school affect my college admissions, especially if my grades suddenly face an upward spike? If all goes well, starting next semester, I should go from having mostly Bs to almost all As. Should I worry about this current semester?

All you can do is work as hard as you can and do as well as you can. You can ask your guidance counselor to address the fact that your ADD was diagnosed mid-sophomore year in his/her college recommendation if you like

Colleges want students who will succeed at college. If you get your LD addressed and then get better grades in harder classes Junior/Senior year, then colleges will know you can succeed at college. Like @happy1 said, the GC can address the LD and subsequent diagnoses in their recommendation letter. Good for you for getting it treated!

One caution. You can reasonably expect better grades next year. However your grades as based on the learning, studying and motivation you do next year. Medication or extended time or other accommodations do not inoculate you against poor grades. Like other students, how you manage LD or any other situation in an academic context makes an important contribution to the quality of your marks.
