Grades

I got in to Barnard ED about a week ago. Of course I’m amazed/excited/relieved/thrilled, but now I’m into college I’m stressing out a lot about my grades. I have solid A’s in everything BUT my calculus class (AP Calc AB), which I’m really struggling with. I got a B first marking period, but in the middle of my school’s second marking period I have a very low C.
When I applied to Barnard, I made it pretty clear that I favored English and I think it was pretty evident that math is not my strong point.
My question is how low do your grades have to be for the college to consider kicking you out?
I’ve never done this poorly in a class in my life. I’m taking two other APs this year, Lit and Latin IV, which I have A’s in, in addition to the rest of my classes.
If my end of the year or midterm transcript shows all A’s and a potential C/C+ in Calc, would I be in danger of having my acceptance rescinded?

I’m in the same boat, except AP french instead of calc. Actually, you’re in a much nicer boat that I’m in. I have all B’s and probably a C+ in french. The B’s are pretty typical for me (though usually they’re sprinkled with few A’s), but a C? gah. I’m really concerned.

I’m sure it takes WORK and careful consideration to kick a person out. And I’m sure colleges know about senioritis. I’m also curious on this front, though.

I wonder if they give you a warning or if they just notify you that you aren’t welcome anymore? but I bet with all As and only 1 B or C you will be totally fine! I think it has to be more drastic, and if you were having an issue in English (which you stressed was more your forte) that would be a bigger deal. congrats on you acceptance!!

I’m in the exact same boat, swngbaskt. All of my grades outside of cal ab are A’s, and I also got a b (85-which was very happy making, because math is NOT in any way my forte) in the first 9 weeks, but this 9 weeks, I have a low D, which averages as a 79 (C) for my semester average. Others than that one grade, all of my other grades are A’s. But I am freaking out a bit about getting the boot. :(

you guys will not get the boot for having a B!! don’t worry, just keep working hard, but I would be shocked if they kicked you out b/c of one B.

It’s hard to care about school work anymore. I was starting to worry about this also.

Ha, after getting into medical school I stopped getting As altogether… the acceptance letters actually say something like “just don’t get below a C and you’re good to go”.

Moral of the story: you’re fine. (:

Hey, I’m scared too! I got a B+ in my math class during the 1st semester of my senior year and now I have a B. I think I might get a B- or even a C+ after my final in 2 days. After that, grades are closed. My GPA is pretty much the same as 1st semester. Do you think my acceptance could possibly be rescinded?

Have you heard anything about rescinded acceptances from Barnard?

Everyone tells me I’m fine because I won’t even be studying math (Math & I don’t get along haha) in college but I don’t think Barnard knows that yet because I don’t plan on declaring a major until sophomore year.

You are fine. Don’t flunk out or get arrested or anything.

:)
