Grades?

So I've just completed my first semester at Berkeley and am wondering whether people (other than me) can access my grades. For example, would my parents (who are the ones footing my bill for college) be able to see my grades online?

Thanks in advance...

No, they won’t be able to see how bad you did. FERPA (Federal Educational Rights Privacy Act, or something like that) prevents anyone from seeing your grades, especially your parents. Also, don’t give them your CalNetID and passphrase.

Yes, they can access your grades the same way you do if they know your password.

if you give them your calnet login then they can view your grades on bearfacts.

so as long as they don’t know my calnet ID &/or password, then they won’t be able to check? :O

Yep they can’t check. Grades are your responsibility, not your parents’. If your parents want to know, you tell them yourself. Welcome to college, you’re a big boy now!

Yup, no way they can access your grades without your permission!

if you log out of calnet on one computer, does it log you out of other computers as well?

Not sure if it works that way or not. Most likely? If not, once the browser is closed, you’ll need to authenticate again.

My parents had a simple rule: as long as they’re paying for college, they get to see my grades. Seems fairly straightforward, even though I hated showing them my grades some (read: nearly all) semesters :)

Good luck.
