Guys, I am panicking so much at the moment. My gpa for last semester was complete garbage. I got a 1.86 gpa. I am also not doing so well this semester and I received a notification saying that if I do not acquire at least a 2.00 gpa I will be dismissed from the university. Does anyone know what I should do and how to improve my grades at the end of the semester??? please respond guys
are you studying hard or studying smart? There’s a difference between the two and studying smart will reduce the time you will need to study as well as help you retain the material better. If you use prescription drugs for studying, I would advise you to refrain from doing so. Popping Xannys and Addy will be bad for you in the long run and is highly addictive.
First, review the sylabi for classes in which you are currently enrolled. You want to know what remains outstanding and the amount of credit you could still earn. Faculty do not do do overs and extra credit assignments. However, if something is late, perhaps you would still be allowed to submit the assignment for a reduced grade. You need to atend every class on time and take careful notes. You must read the the text and other materials and study until you know the material . Add information from reading to class notes and study like your life depends on it which it does.
Talk to your advisor and faculty about what you can do to pass. Seek tutoring from the learning center. If it would helpful and time remains drop hopeless classes. You may be able to save yourself with very serious effort and guidance from faculty and advisor. While you are working on redemption think about what works well and what less so. You goal is getting through this semester and setting yourself up for successful study in the future.
Read the pinned list by @bopper at the top of the College Life page, lots of great suggestions.
I would ask first:
-
Do you go to class every single day? I mean, never miss a day?
-
Do you sit in the front row? Always?
If you answered “No” to either one of these. STOP. You have low hanging fruit to pick.
You rang?
What you are doing now isn’t working. If it isn’t too late…talk to your adviser about withdrawing from a class so you can concentrate on getting the others up (assuming you would still be full time)
