In my freshman year at high school, I had teachers who were extremely difficult and didn't believe in giving out A's. I ended up getting a B-/B in one and C+/C+ in the other. Sophmore year was great for me and I recieved a 4.16 GPA. How can I let JHU know that im really not the C+ student? Will those grades affect chances for admission because I heard that admissions officers usually don't accept people who recieve average grades?

To the original poster, you need to understand we base our decisions on everything in your application file and do not make final decisions based on one or two grades. Our evaluations are comprehensive and incorporate every aspect of your application, not just some grades from freshman year.

That being said, if you feel it is necessary to explain "poor grades" that you may alway submit a written statement with your application.
