Will I get my admission rescinded?

Well, my 2nd semester grades are pretty horrible. My prediction is that I will have around a 3.2 unweighted GPA.

Right now I currently have a C in AP Calculus BC but I fairly confident I can raise this to at least a B- by the end of the semester.

Is there a specific GPA that we cannot go past to keep our admission? And, are we screwed if we get any C's?

Does anyone know anyone who got their admission rescinded from JHU? What were grades?

Schools do not rescind for a lone C.

My cumulative GPA was around 3.2 Don't fret. If you D/F all of your classes, then be worried.

No, schools will only rescind in worst case scenarios. They will typically question if you fail a class. Fail multiple classes and see Admissions sending you letter asking you to explain your situation. If you have an legitimate excuse such as a family emergency, severe sickness or health illness, they won't hold it against you. If it was because you were lazy and didn't feel you needed to do work, then your really screwed. You do have an obgliation to the school to continue your GPA and hold yourself to the same high standings in which you applied.

Remember, your admissions is CONTINGENT on the latter part of your senior year. So just because you got in doesn't mean you will stay in if you have straight Ds or fail multiple classes. Senioritis is common and Admissions know this. Just know the limits and work hard to keep it to a respectable GPA level. Have fun too, last semester of your highschool career! Enjoy it.

I had a problem where I nearly failed my AP English Language class. (Previously, I was getting an A+ in the class). I knew that I was on the borderline so I worked my butt off to catch up with all the reading and assigments etc....ended up with a D or C-, I don't know, I didn't care. I spoke to my teacher about it and she knew that I just got into college, and I was not motivated to do work. For me, either I put 100% effort or do absolute NO work. I can't find a balance. lol, what a curse.

Contact the admissions office. Ask them directly. I think I did however they didn't exactly give me a clear exact answer. It made me feel better though.

my magic 8 ball says ..... "not likely"

I sincerely doubt they're going to rescind you unless if you're failing all of your classes. Colleges understand that seniors who've worked their butts off for so long will want a little relaxing. It's not going to make them raise eyebrows. After all, they're not going to want you to die before you make it to their school.

So something like A --> B or B --> C probably won't raise attention but A --> D in many subjects might.

I'll be getting a C in BC Calc too, and I'm not worried. I barely scraped a B last semester because that class is just too hard. <_> Eh.

Heh, I'm experiencing similar senioritis...somehow, I managed to pull a B+ in multivariable calc last 6 weeks and I'll probably have a low A this six weeks due to our group project...split up work ftw :)

Most schools won't rescind your application unless you get several Cs and Ds and/or miss many days. I personally know a guy who got rescinded from UCLA last year...he was a very smart kid...did well on the AIME, aced multivariable calc first semester...but he just totally gave up second semester and missed a bunch of days (and got a few Ds as a result)...so yeah, one C is very unlikely to get you into the same situation as the one he got into.

I'm kind of worried, too, since I think I'm getting a C in AP physics C this semester. last semester was a A- or B+ I can't remember. Yeah, first of all seniority is really an issue for me. I just don't want to do any work. Good to know I still get to go to college. :D
