Grading for Humanities/Social Sciences classes at UCD?

I know for science and engineering classes, everything is based on a curve. In my engineering classes, all homeworks/labs/midterms/final is scaled on a curve or else most people in class would get destroyed by the results. I’m always anxious to find the mean of each homework, labs, and tests, to make sure I don’t fall below the mean, but I’m finding the competition in engineering here is damn competitive. It’s really shocking to see how good some students in my classes are.

I’m aware that classes like biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering are all on a curve. But I was wondering how the grading scheme is set up for humanities and social science classes here at UCD? Are regular assignments, essays, and midterms/final graded on a curve? I need to take some GE’s soon.

All the ones I have taken were graded on an absolute scale.

Social Science classes will tell you that they are graded on an absolute scale but many time they are on a curve. There are only so many As they can give and so on. I had a SOC 1 professor who flat out told us that this was how it was and that most Social Science classes are like that but they don't tell you.
