grading scales?

In my state the grading scale is:

93-100 = A
85-92 = B
77-84 = C
70-76 = D
0 - 69 = F

Isnt this unfair compared to other states with a 10 point scale? I mean if I got a 92 in a class it would go down on my transcript as a B while in other states it would be an A. Dosent this seem unfair?

Not necessarily. If the tests are easier then it balances out.

Everyone at your school/in your state (though I doubt it’s the whole state) is evaluated on this scale. Colleges evaluate you in the context of your school. If you stand out in your school, you’re fine.

The tests I assume are harder, im not sure. Also its hard to stand out here class rank wise because there are about handfull of students in my class (sophomores) who have weighted GPA’s above 5.

You assume your tests are harder than the average school? Is it a prep school?

Umm okay well then your school does weighting weirdly. My school has AP’s as a 5.0 for and A, 4.0 for a B, etc. It sounds like the weighting at your school makes up for the discrepancy in letter grades.

There’s no reason to even worry about this. Just do the best you can in the context of your school.

yeah, here academic classes are worth 4’s Honors are 5, and Ap’s are 6’s.
