Graduate in 3 Years?

I have some questions/comments about stuff for the next few years.

Is it possible to graduate from NYU in 3 years (by doing winter, summer, extra classes per year)?

Will this drastically reduce the cost of attending NYU overall. Obviously I'm still paying for those courses, but I wont have room & board + extra fees.

Do you think its a good idea to try and do this?

People have done it. I know of 1 person who did it and I have read here on CC from others who have done it. You have to really be focused and know in what direction you are going so that you are not wasting credits or time. You will ave money because tuition is the same for 12 credits as it is for 18 credits. so if you take the max every semester, you are a head of the game.

Our daughter will graduate in 2 1/2 years due to AP credits and taking a full load during the two summers. It will save some money overall.

@vossron, that is really awesome.

@stohare2010: There is a thread on page 19 of this forum titled “graduating early?” that provides insight on this topic as well.

Regarding 2, what would your plan be for the summer? While housing is reduced during the summer, you’re still paying for the costs of an apartment/staying in the dorm. So keep that in mind when you crunch the numbers.

@missamericanpie, Oh I know. But overall for the 3 years. It’d still be cheaper than adding another whole year.
