Graduate School????

My brother and father have suggested graduate school since the bachelors in history I graduated with 6 years has not lead to any job prospects. My brother suggested accounting but I have mixed feelings about this.

-I nor my parents have any money for graduate school even though there are grants one can get to help pay for some of the years in school.

-Accounting doesn't really interest me.

-I'm not good in math, or at least I don't think I am.

-I don't want to do another degree since the ba I obtained did not help me to establish myself in a regular job or yield a wage better than 11 dollars an hour. I just don't want to go through school again, do the work, and then graduate and find little to no job prospects.

A little bit of background on me:

-graduated 2005 with a bachelors degree in history

-I live in the Dallas Texas area

-The jobs I've had since I graduated college are in retail stores such as Lowe's and Best Buy. I've done a fingerprinting job, worked in an appraisal center, and for the last 3 years I've been substituting two school districts

At this point I just need a job to which I continue to apply for including: retail/customer service, janitor work, clerk positions, and hotel desk jobs. I'm not too particular in what I do, however, I have found that when I apply those jobs either they don't reply to me or they might grant me an inteview and then someone tells me I'm overqualified.

I guess this is more of a rant more than anything. My parents know I'm struggling and don't know what else to do at this point since I'm about to turn 30 in December and still living with them.

You don’t want to do accounting so don’t.
What subject do you sub in?
If you can do private tutoring or do college prep for SATs as well as sub then you may cobble enough to move out.

Instead of grad school, how about a career school or a two-year career program at a community college. I’m thinking some kind of hotel or restaurant management or something that otherwise deals with people. It’ll help get you past the entry-level jobs, and your history degree won’t make you overqualified for those positions.
