Hello all,

I have seen a lot of questions pertaining to the undergrad environment, but very little in regards to graduate students. According to the website, more than 1/3rd of the students are graduate students. I was just wondering if the experiences of the school differ that much.

Unfortunately, I cannot live in the college dormitories (not offered to grad students) and will be residing off campus. How hard is it for commuters with vehicles? How is the off-campus housing situation?

Basically, I guess the main question is
What about grad school?

You probably should avoid a car in Washington, unless you really need it. The traffic is horrible. They don't house graduate students on campus? Darn. I was really hoping to get in a nice gothic dorm, well at least I'll have classes there. Then again, off-campus housing shouldn't be too bad. I love the metro system in Washington. It is really nice, in my opinion. Also, it should take you to where you need to go, because housing in Georgetown is really expense.

If you include the Law School, I think Georgetown is about 50/50 undergrad to grad.

I wouldn't recommend getting a car, because parking is a pain around campus. And expensive, I believe.

However, there are Georgetown buses that are free and run fairly frequently to the major veins of DC. Two go to metro stops (Dupont and Rosslyn). A lot of younger urban types live in the Dupont area, though I think it is fairly expensive. If you can get to a metro stop from wherever you live, a commute without a car is quite easy.
