Hello everyone. Right now I'm considering graduating early, at the end of my junior year. After this I would go into college the next year. The colleges I'm really considering are UVA, Duke, and NYU. And maybe uPenn. I'll apply for other Ivy League schools, but I have no expectation of being accepted to them. I would be thrilled to get into any of these schools. Would graduating early affect my chance of being accepted to these colleges? I'll include my stats below in case they help.

So, graduating early and it affecting my chances at getting accepted to UVA, Duke, NYU, and uPenn? Feel free to ask if you need any information. Thank you in advance. You taking your time to answer my question is greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I don’t think it would affect you in the slightest way because you have taken all the courses available to you (and some). There would be no point in continuing with senior year unless there are classes you haven’t taken yet. Not completely sure, but that’s the way I see it.

Edit: Oh yeah, it might affect you in the department of EC’s because you wouldn’t have SR year to take on leadership positions.

Okay, I see that. However, don’t I already have some leadership positions? Young Democrats Club president, Spanish National Honor Society and Raze secretary, Marching Band Section Leader, and 1st Chair in Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble? I’m not trying to argue with you, I just wanted to make sure that those were taken into account. Are they not enough?

And I haven’t yet taken all of those courses, the rest will be done during my junior year and this summer. Most of the online courses were/are going to be taken so that I would still get to take the highest level course in each subject. For example, I plan to take Pre-Calculus if I decide to graduate early so that I can still take some Calculus in high school. All of these courses could be taken at my high school if I choose to stay for senior year.

While you’re on this thread, how much would senior class president affect my acceptance to these universities? They already did class elections for next year and I didn’t run, so that’s out. Senior class president would really be my only reason to stay… So how much weight would it have in the admissions process?

And you said it wouldn’t affect my chances, so do you think that my chances are alright at those schools?

Oh yeah, didn’t see the positions you held because I just kinda skimmed through that long list. Also, senior class president probably affects the app as much as any other leadership position - maybe slightly more. As for your chances, I think you stand a high chance of getting into UVA and NYU, above average for Duke, and i’ll say just a tiny bit lower chance for Upenn than Duke (Not sure, but I know Duke is almost if not on par w/Ivy Leagues). I live in Virginia, so a lot of people from my school apply to UVA and most people who get accepted have your stats.

Alright, that’s very good news! Oh, well it’s much easier to get into UVA if you’re in-state than out-of-state. Only one state away! Hopefully I get in, though…

I don’t see much that would stop you from getting into all of those schools. Did you take the AP tests for all those classes that you took, and if so, how did you score on them? That’s the only problem I can think of. Have fun being out of high school early!

Awesome! Well the problem is, most of those AP tests will be taken either next year or in May. So far I’ve only taken AP World History (last year, freshman year) and I got a 4… Shameful on this site, lol.

Thank you, jaytehman! And thanks for your input!
