It WAS just yesterday that my oldest daughter (not oldest child) began school at SC. And yesterday my youngest graduated. To those of you who are starting this journey at SC a glimpse of the day.

It WAS just yesterday when my youngest got her admissions package, despite the fact that she "knew" she wouldn't get in. And yesterday our family (with her boyfriend) stood and cheered as she and her classmates graduated.

We cheered for Annenberg and Cinematic Arts (where oldest daughter graduated). Behind us there was a huge cheer for School of Theatre. I wanted to turn and say, "CollegeConfidential?" We screamed our approval when 9 Neisei Trojans FINALLY received their diplomas because their education was interrupted by Internment.

We heard applause as Renaissance scholars were acknowledged...Sequoia?

Annenberg's graduation was wonderful. Maria Schriver was great...just pause.

And, at the end of the day, my daughter got the telephone call: She got a job...in her field...and that she wanted.

Welcome to the Trojan family freshman. It is a journey well worth the taking.

Ellebud: You brought tears to my eyes with that wonderful re-telling of the day! Congratulations to Ellebuddaugher - no longer a bud, but a full blown flower! What an amazing day it must have been- and, the job she wants in her field- is the icing on the cake. I can feel your joy clear across the nation in Maryland. May there be many more wonderful occasions like this to celebrate in the years to come.
Thanks for all the advice and wisdom you pass on to those of us new to the trojan family.

Thank you. And may your family have the time of your lives.

Since my daughter graduated yesterday, this may be my swan song for CC. One of the things I really came away with yesterday is that SC delivered on everything they said they would do. I truly believe that my daughter has been the recipient of a wonderful eduation; I know she has made what will be life-long friends.
And I really wasn’t expecting the band to show up at the end of her Marshall graduation. But, it made sense. From her Explore scholarship session to Orientation to SCend off to move in day, the band set the tone that this what SC is about–you are a Trojan for life.
So my message for new parents or prospective students–what you see when you visit SC is what you get–you will be a Trojan and a member of the family.
