Graduation on the horizon....

H just dropped S off at the airport for his final J-term of his years at Midd. I cannot believe that graduation is, for all intent and purposes, just around the corner. I can also not believe that he has left me an additional box to send his way when all of what's been accumulated in Vermont will have to be packed up and stored ... somewhere... once he figures out where he might be headed next, which is to take a year off from school to work in research or similar.

Not sure why I started this thread except that the Midd board is where I basically started four years ago about this same time while obsessing about where my kid might end up going to college and certainly once he was accepted.

We'll make our final journey to campus in May for graduation and despite four years of trying to do otherwise, will spend the weekend in campus housing because we never seemed to win the lottery of staying at Middlebury Inn or the phone race of the Courtyard Marriott or the litmus test of some other Inns who give priority to "regulars" like Athlete's parents. But I will try to just focus on the convenience factor and look forward to knowing who the speaker is going to be!

Sob…Moda, I’ll be in your shoes next Feb, and then again in May! Please don’t be a stranger on the boards, you have lots of great advise for the “prospies”.
At least I’ll be able to afford things like new clothes and a car payment again!

I second OBD’s remarks. We’ll miss your insight here. Hope you’ll continue to connect with new Midd Kids.

I joined this site over a year ago and I have seen many good advices from your post. I remembered in one of your post you said how Midd transformed your son in a very positive and wonderful way, how both of you appreciated the Middlebury experience. I was hoping the same thing could happen to my son when I was reading that post.

I dropped my son at airport yesterday, felt sad to see him go but at same time I feel proud and happy for him. Son told me that he loves everything there, he did great for his first semester, and he is having the great time there. As a parent, there is nothing happier than seeing our kid doing great and transforming themselves into a better person in college.

Thank you for your advice and all the best to your son’s next journey!

Thanks people. Will continue to offer what I can, when i can, but fully admit there are some very in the know folk on this board about not only Middlebury, but the majority of the NESCAC!
