I've read the essay method and it seems to me that it is definitely enough to get a 5 on the essay but is it enough to get a 6? Has anyone actually gotten a 6 with the Grammatix method on the real SAT? It just seems to me that it does not have enough critical thinking.

yea has anyone actually tried his format? i mean it sounds good in theory, can't go wrong with that format. It's simple and puts more bulk in the body rather than the intro/conclusion. It also seems less redundant than other layouts.

However, it seems like the Grammatix guy took a random essay that scored a 6 and got the fromat from that. Also, he seems to really like personal examples. I heard that a variety of examples like from history, personal, and literature is better. Is that true? Has anyone tried the Grammatix method and scored 11 or 12 on the real SAT?

forgot to add that grammatix used the online essay grader to verify that the essay was a 6

The online essay grader can be pretty off. I used the "deception essay" space and put in some random text from sparknotes. --> got a 6
I deleted half of that test --> got a 4

I pasted in the essay that I got a 5 on for the real SAT. --> gave me a 6. Even though the essays were completely differnt topics. I dont think the topics actually matter.

I think the grammatix guy should pay 60 bux for the essay grading service. Have any of you tried it?

I had the very same question several days ago and one user told me that he used the grammatix formula and indeed got a score of 12.

I got a 11 using the grammatix method. I took the test in May and literally the night before, I was looking through the boards and saw the grammatix essay sample method. I read over it, somewhat had it in my head and went to sleep. Granted, I didn't use the method in its entirety (because I couldn't remember all the steps lol), but just tips from it were enough to get me a 11 on the essay. I think it's a great method. It was not much of an improvement from a 10 I got in march, but I went into the essay with much more confidence and ease. I'd recommend it :-)

The grammatix guy is the one who pointed out that the online grader is wrong. He got his strategy from examining every essay in the BB and testing out his strategy on REAL sat tests.

really that's not what he wrote in his book. it says this essay got a 6 with the online grader then he has that essay posted there

are you one of those Grammatix spies Amu?

well, getting a 6 with the online grader is so easy....i get 6s all the time, but i still don't think my essays are on the same level as the sample ones

thegodofrice: No I'm not.
