Hi, I am submitting a portfolio for fall 2007 UCLA design program, and i was wondering within all my pieces of work am i supposed to ad specs? such as designed by: ....... Illustrated by:.........., Please help...need to send in asap. Thanks a bunch

Review the submission guidelines for the college or contact a representative. They are there to assist you. As a general rule, always give credit where credit is due.

The Submission Guidelines doesnt specify and only states the image must be 1024x768 at 72 dpi, but since it doesnt say i think i might just put all that down. if anyone out there doesn't think i should. please let me know -=D

Okay sorry to bother again but now i would really like to know if it is possible for me to do this

create an inventory sheet with a short design narrative that describes media, purpose and indicates appropriate credit.

Wow i already turned it in and didn't do that. Do you think that it is highly necessary?

ucla's program is extremely competitive to get into. regardless if you would have turned it in or not, odds are against every applicant.

Hey liek0806, i understand that the art program at UCLA is competative but i didnt know the design program was. so just to clear it up. Do you think it was a big deal that i didn't have a description about each of my works?

I would think a bit about the two memes, "Design as problem solving" and "Design as communication". Have you communicated your work successfully? Will someone understand your slides without an inventory sheet?

Additionally, you aren't exhibiting a strong sense of problem solving in this thread; in any design program, you are going to be expected to work your way through problems on your own - and these problems will often be more complicated than the decision to include an inventory sheet or not!

If I was in your position, I would prepare the inventory sheet, submit it separately, and include a cover letter explaining that you hope it isn't too late, but you feel the work would be better communicated with this additional item.

the work is well communicated it is just that the portfolio requirements did not specify but just curious if it was required.
