My D’s auditions went very well, with profs giving her lots of personal attention and acting like she will be there in fall. How much weight should I place on this when we have not heard from the school? She hopes to go to Syracuse U or U of Delaware in Newark. I think those schools notify in late March. She has applied for a BM in composition and piano at Syracuse and a BA in composition and flute at UD.
I can’t help you, we are in the same boat. I’m interested to see if good lessons mean anything.
It is wonderful your daughter had great auditions. The thing is, you really do not know for certain until you receive an acceptance email or package from the school.
Given the nature of auditions, I wouldn’t place too much weight on how the panel reacts or treats the auditioner, I think if your D felt she had a great audition that that weighs more heavily towards her chances of acceptance than the way the panel reacted. It sounds like the people on the panel liked her, but keep in mind other kids are auditioning and in the end it comes down to how much they liked the auditioner and where they rank compared to other students in terms of getting into a studio. It is really good she felt positive coming out of it, though I also have seen a lot of kids who came out of auditions made that they ‘fouled up’ and they got in, so you never know:). Wish your D luck, the waiting can be worse than the run up to the audition!
Thanks, and of course you are right about “bad” auditions leading sometimes to acceptance.
My D was accepted by U of Delaware and the music department is offering scholarships for composition, theory, and flute! Still have not heard from Syracuse.
