Great Gatsby

Anyone have any ideas related to any of these Great Gatsby essay topics? I have an in class essay tomorrow and can't build any outlines...

1.Comment on the presentation and significance of betrayal in The Great Gatsby.

2.A happy ending is usually enjoyable, but an unhappy ending can be more thought provoking or satisfying in other ways. Discuss the ending of The Great Gatsby, considering its impact on you as a reader.

3.Discuss the idea(s) developed in The Great Gatsby about how acts of courage develop and nurture personal integrity.
-In this one I am planning to talk about Nick Carraway, his decision too move west, and his decision to break up with Jordan. What else could I use though?

No thoughts, but is EVERYONE reading Gatsby this time of year? Sheesh.

How I love The Great Gatsby.

Sorry, can't help you, though. The last... and only... time I read it was driving through a tiny town in the Michigan Corn Belt in July.

Actually, what about the unhappy ending? Doesn't it make you think about the nature of their society? Didn't you just want him to live? Don't you feel some kind of empathy with him that you wouldn't have felt in a happy ending? That's what comes to mind immediately for #2, but that's probably not enough to write an essay. Meh. Sorry.

Man I love the book but those essay topics suck. Personally, I'd go with number 2. Think about what Nick learned about dreams, the past, and future.

Yeah, I did read this book at this time of the year.
